In the first match with pitcher Tom and catcher Simon T. we saw a very good teamwork between the two and in the first and second innings no opposing runs were allowed. After the clear 10:0, the Hoppers rallied and managed a few good hits. With the score at 16:3, Tom was able to end the 4th inning with a nice out after 2 strikeouts with his very last permitted 75th pitch.
The batterymen were replaced by pitcher Simon T. and catcher Simon L., who came together in this new combination and were able to play with a safe point lead over the ÖM - and prevent the upcoming pitcher/catcher shortage there.
The match saw great individual actions, such as the inside-the-park home run by Simon L.
The second match showed again how important good communication between the players is and what happens when this is not always completely clear. Other battery combinations could be tried out (Ibra/Simon L. and Oskar/Benjamin), but too much was allowed and more would certainly have been possible due to some left on base and passive behavior at the plate - the Hoppers made better use of their opportunities here.
Overall, it was a good match day and very good preparation with a view to the Austrian Championships in October.
